What is a Doula?
A doula is a trained professional that provides physical, emotional, and informational support during pregnancy, childbirth, and beyond. A doula offers non-judgmental support, guidance, evidence-based education and practical hands-on support. Doulas recognize the profound impact of childbirth on the mother and are there to care and advocate for them. As doulas, our main goal is to help you achieve a satisfying birth experience, however that looks for you.
A doula does not provide clinical tasks, such as taking blood pressure, fetal heart checks, or vaginal exams. We are there to provide physical comfort, emotional support, and facilitate communication between you and the staff. We will not make decisions for you, or speak to the staff on your behalf, but we will encourage you to do so for yourself.
